Highights & Tips

Trip Details:

Bryan and Chelsea Ireland spent 5 days in Mojave with five other Opus owners and a film crew – “No hookups or cell service for 6 nights was a dream!”

“This was our first trip to Mojave – And of course, we did it in February. It’s always been on our bucket list, but we needed a trailer that would go to the places we wanted to explore – and the Opus was perfect.” – Bryan Ireland

My wife is the Marketing Director at Opus so I was able to join a group of Opus owners while they filmed videos of the new trailers. We used Afton Canyon Campground as our base camp while we spent the days towing the trailers around for videos and photos.

The guys from Blk Elk Media also camped with us – It was cool to see them work behind the scenes for a few days and hang out with other owners. It was really awesome having all these random people from completely different places hanging out around the campfire.

I love a good campfire, and the guys at Opus made a huge fire barrel with their logo drilled on the side – this kept me warm all week. See the pictures included – it was my favorite part of the trip.

We also went to the sand dunes and Mojave Mailbox. All cool locations are worth checking out.

Towing details: We had to cross the Mojave River at least twice a day, and always towing trailers. The river was high – at least a few feet, and as the week went on the water got higher, but we had no issues.

“I had never towed the OP2 prior to this trip. I had only towed an OP4 & OP15, so this was our first time towing it, and our first time staying in an OP2… Towing the OP2 felt identical to towing the OP4. It’s so light I forget it’s back there.”

“I do notice a difference with the Cruisemaster versus the LockNRoll hitch – it’s also much easier to use.”

TIPS:

– We used our heater a lot at night, it was February in the desert so it got cold.

– The bathrooms as very dirty at Afton Canyon

– There are no gas stations inside the reserve so bring extra fuel
